Jets cornerback Eric Smith, who knocked out Cardinals wide receiver Anquan Boldin on Sunday, has been suspended one game by the NFL, as well as fined $50,000. The NFL deemed that the hit he put on Boldin was dirty and acted accordingly. There really is no question whether the hit was dirty or not. Some may say he wouldn't have hit Boldin in the helmet if the other Jets defender hadn't pushed him forward, but that's not the point. The point is Smith not only jumped into Boldin, but led with his helmet as well. It's amazing there was no flag thrown on this play. Cards safety Adrian Wilson has been flagged in the past for hitting a player when leading with his shoulder (and it also happened to be at a crucial point in the game). The fact is there is no way you can't agree with this, no matter who's fault it was that Boldin was knocked unconscious. The only thing that matters is that players cannot be making plays that can easily lead to an injury, like Smith did.
